Vegetable Garden

During May, the children, staff and Families at Beehive began redeveloping our vegetable garden. It was very over grown and in desperate need of TLC.

The management at Beehive, our families and the Environment Team at Hornsby Council provided the necessary materials and labour.

We weeded our garden, layed newspaper to replenish the soil and prevent more weeds, then we laid a variety of different compost and manure materials, followed by soil. The children planted seedlings into egg cartons which we aim to transfer to the garden soon.

We also began our compost bin at the same time. The children now compost their fruit scraps from morning tea into the bin each day, therefore strengthening their awarenes of Environmental Education.
