Daily Routine - Castle Hill BEEHIVE

The routine is similar for each room but the times will vary.

7:00am   Centre opens – Families and children are greeted as they arrive. Staff communicate with parents about important information and messages are passed on.
 
7:00am - 8:00am   Inside activities / Breakfast – A range of indoor programmed activities from all programs are set up. Family grouping occurs with siblings able to play together during this time.
 
8:00am - 9:00am   Outdoor free play – where there is a variety of physical, fine motor, social and cognitive activities set up for children to further develop their skills of co-ordination and strength, social interactions, language development and small muscle strength. Painting activities – to enhance creative and fine motor development.
 
9:00am - 9:30am   Exercise / movement activities / Gross Motor program – a group experience to enhance children’s large muscle development and develop an enjoyment of physical activities.
 
9:30am - 10:00am   Morning Tea – we wash our hands and children help themselves to fresh fruit using tongs. This enhances their fine muscle control as well as social skills.
 
10:00am – 10:15am   Morning Meeting – what day is it? What is the weather like? What will we be doing today. Which Letterland character will we meet this week?
 
10:15am – 11:00am     Cognitive activities inside – activities are set up for individual children based on their interests, needs and development.
 
11:00am – 11.30am    Language/Story Time – educational detailed stories are read to the children. Children are encouraged to recall the events in the story and ask questions. Stories encompass both printed tales as well as felt board and puppet stories.
 
11.30am - 12:10pm    Outdoor free play/activities and Letterland Program – The children are split into 2 groups. The first group engages in outdoor play whilst the second group will focus on the Letterland character for the week including sharing the sound of the week and practicing writing the letter associated with the sound. The children will swap after 20 minutes.
 
12:10pm – 12:40pm    Lunch – Children are transitioned to wash their hands in readiness for lunch in the dining room. The children are provided with a nutritious meal and encouraged to serve themselves with tongs and spoons. Children are encouraged to try different foods and clean up their bowls once they have finished.
 
12:40pm – 2:00pm    Rest time or quiet activities – Children are settled to their beds for rest time. Quiet activities are planned for those who do not require a sleep.
 
2.00pm - 2.30pm    News time – children are divided into 2 groups and are able to share their news item. Teachers encourage open ended questions which helps further develop expressive and receptive language as well as confidence and social development.
 
2.30pm - 3.15pm    Music and Movement Experience – Children have the opportunity to develop their skills of rhythm, beat, singing and expressing themselves through different types of music.
 
3:15pm – 3:30pm    Afternoon Tea – After washing their hands, children are seated at the table in the dining room and encouraged to help themselves to afternoon tea using tongs.
 
2.30pm – 4.30pm    Activities
- Dance (Hey-De-Ho) on Wednesday & Thursday
- Japanese (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday & Friday)
- Computer Bus (Thursday)
 
4.30pm – 5.00pm   Free play outdoors or indoors depending on the weather- children are grouped together, allowing siblings to interact with one another.
 
5.00pm – 5.30pm   Pack away outdoors – children help pack away the outdoor equipment and progressively move indoors to quiet activities.
 
5.30pm – 6.00pm   Supper – a late afternoon meal for children still in attendance at the Centre.
 
6.00pm – 6.30pm   Inside Group Activity - Family Grouping and transition to home time
