Staff are experienced, capable and caring. A variety of experience, culture and training is encouraged. Beehive’s staff include both early education and childcare specialists. In keeping with our commitment to high quality care, Beehive staff include five degree-qualified Early Education Teachers and two Diploma of Community Services qualified carers. Four other staff members are currently completing the Diploma of Community Services and three staff are currently working towards their Certificate 3 in Early Childhood. All staff participate in ongoing training to further develop their skills and knowledge.
It is Centre policy that all permanent staff hold current First Aid Certificates and that staff members who prepare meals for the children have undertaken relevant courses in nutrition and food hygiene.
Killara Beehive Childcare is unique in that it represents an ideal co-operation between the Department of Education, Killara Primary School and the Centre owners. Killara Primary and its parents were instrumental in proposing the idea for a childcare centre on surplus land at the school. Being adjacent to the School provides opportunities for interaction between the two, and allows for a gentle introduction to ‘big school’ for the Centre’s children. Some of the Centre’s children in fact go on to primary school at Killara Primary.
