Daily Routine - Turramurra BEEHIVE

The routine is similar for each room but the times will vary.

8:30am - 9:30am   Structured free play outdoors – Equipment and games set up outdoors to encourage development across all areas.
 
9:30am – 10:20am   Group Time – Children are split into two groups, with both groups experiencing gymnastics and music.
  • During gymnastics the children will focus on large body movements, body co-ordination, balance and ball skills.
     
  • During music the children will participate in singing and dancing, use of instruments and basic rhythm and beat.
10:20am – 10:40am     Toileting, washing hands and fruit for Morning Tea. 
 
10:40am – 11.40am    Indoor Structured Activities – children have the opportunity to experience activities to develop:
  • cognitive and thinking skills
  • creativity through art and craft experience
  • a second language (French)
  • social skills
  • fine motor strength and control
11.40am - 12:20pm    Children split into two groups. Both groups experience story time with discussion and outdoor play. The 4 year old children will experience "news" time instead of outdoor play.
  • Story time and discussion focuses on our weekly topic. Children explore issues through open discussion with each other and the teacher.
     
  • News time (4 year olds) encourages children to listen to others and help develop confidence to speak in front of a group and helps to develop questioning skills. 
 
12:20pm – 2:00pm    Toileting and washing hands. Lunch. Rest time for children who require a sleep or outdoor play for children who don’t require a sleep. 
 
2:00pm – 2:15pm    Rest time: all children find a space indoors and rest quietly whilst soothing music or a story is played. 
 
2.15pm - 3.00pm    Indoor Structured activities focussing on the weekly topic and pre-reading and writing skills. 
 
3:00pm – 3:30pm    Transition time (indoors) – during this time children experience structured games, rhymes, role plays and activities that encourage positive self esteem, confidence, sharing and turn-taking. 
 
3.30pm - 3.45pm    Afternoon Tea 
 
3:15pm – 4:15pm    Outdoor play 
 
4.15pm – 4.30pm    Pack away time
