Daily Routine - Wahroonga BEEHIVE

Red Room Daily Routine

The routine is similar for each room but the times will vary.

8:30am - 9am   Outdoor Play 

Children arrive and settle their belongings before going outside to play and experience the outdoor environment.
 
9am – 10:30am   Indoor Play

The indoor space is set up to enhance the children’s development across all areas. Activities set up indoors will focus on:
  • thinking and problem solving skills, through activities such as puzzles, sequencing and sorting games as well as number games and concepts.
  • Language and literacy skills, through drawing, writing and experiencing books
  • French lesson, where children will have the chance to experience a second language through songs, games and rhymes.
  • Fine motor development including tearing paper, using our pincer grip and correct pencil grip, cutting and using sticky tape.
  • Social and emotional development through play, sharing, taking turns and working co-operatively with others.
  • Creative development through art and craft experiences as well as dramatic and role play experiences.
10:30am – 10:45am     Morning Tea on the verandah 
 
10:45am – 11.15am    Story and Letterland

A planned group experience enhancing the children’s language and literacy development. This experience includes a story, discussion recalling the story or message from the story, plus a chance for the children to show and share something they have bought in from home with the group.

The children will also experience the Letterland program, meeting a new character from Letterland each week as well as sharing the pictures they have bought.
 
11.15am - 12:30pm    Outdoor play and Gynmastics

A planned group experience that enhances the children’s large motor development as well as encourage an active lifestyle. This experience may include balance and co-ordination activities, exercises as well as ball skills.
 
12:30pm – 1:00pm    Lunch
 
1:15pm – 2:45pm    Rest time transitioning to quiet activities indoors 

The children will have a chance to rest and relax to quiet music and stories if required or engage in quiet activities. As children wake up, they engage in quiet activities and participate in news time.
 
2.30pm - 3.00pm    Music and Movement

A planned experience focusing on musical concepts such as beat and rhythm as well as increasing the children’s self confidence and self esteem in front of the group.
 
3:00pm – 4:30pm    Afternoon Tea

On the verandah followed by free play outdoors.
